FASD affects daily living and supervision needs in ways that are easy to underestimate.

  • Supervision needs (road safety, kitchen, strangers, peer pressure)
  • Help with dressing, hygiene, eating (often a much younger developmental age)
  • Sleep difficulties (very common in FASD)
  • Emotional regulation support
  • Sensory needs

— what to push for

  • Section B: full picture of cognitive, social, emotional, sensory, communication and physical needs
  • Section F: specific, quantified support — adult support hours, , , regular check-ins, key worker
  • Section I: named, suitable school placement

Transition to adulthood

  • transition at 16
  • Continued education up to 25 if needed
  • Adult social care assessment
  • Support around money, relationships, employment

Other support

  • Carer''s Allowance
