Disabled Children's Partnership "Failed and Forgotten" report — key findings

The Disabled Children's Partnership (a coalition of more than 110 charities) has published new research showing that families of disabled children are still waiting far too long for support, with many reaching crisis before any help arrives.

## Key findings - More than half of parents surveyed said their child's needs are not being met by current services. - Average waits for short breaks, therapies and equipment are measured in years, not months. - Parent carers report serious impacts on their own mental and physical health. - Families from lower-income and minoritised backgrounds are disproportionately affected. ## What the coalition is calling for - A cross-government strategy for disabled children, with ring-fenced funding. - Faster access to therapies, equipment and short breaks. - Stronger accountability for local authorities and health bodies that miss statutory duties. ## What you can do - Share your story with the DCP via their website — they use anonymised stories to lobby government. - Contact your MP using the DCP's ready-made template. - Use Bright Steps' SEND Support Finder to check what you may already be entitled to locally. **Source:** Disabled Children's Partnership — published research and campaign briefings.
