School won't support medical needs

What to do when they say "we can't" or "it's not our job".

5 min read

Schools have a statutory duty to support medical conditions on equal terms. Refusal may breach the Equality Act 2010.

Common wrong refusals: "staff aren''t trained" (must arrange), "we can''t give meds" (yes you can with consent + IHP), "trip too risky" (must make adjustments), "PE compulsory" (must adapt).

Steps: written request → formal complaint to governors → → Ombudsman → Tribunal. Use our complaint templates.
