Myth: ADHD is just bad behaviour. Fact: ADHD is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects attention, impulse control, activity levels and regulation.
Myth: Children with ADHD just need stricter discipline. Fact: Clear boundaries can help, but punishment alone does not teach missing skills. Children need support, structure and understanding.
Myth: ADHD only affects boys. Fact: ADHD affects girls too, but it may present differently and can be missed.
Myth: Adults can't have ADHD. Fact: ADHD can continue into adulthood. Some adults are diagnosed later in life.
Myth: People with ADHD can't focus. Fact: Many people with ADHD can focus intensely on things that interest them. The difficulty is often regulating attention.
Myth: ADHD means low intelligence. Fact: ADHD has nothing to do with intelligence. Many people with ADHD are highly capable but struggle with organisation, attention or regulation.
Myth: Screen time causes ADHD. Fact: ADHD isn't caused by screens. Screens may affect sleep, behaviour or attention in some people, but they're not the root cause of ADHD.
